CORE PLUG on a D ? Empty CORE PLUG on a D ?

Post by gerrybongo Sat Mar 22 2014, 00:44

Hi after help again sorry , I have come across a Lister D with a core plug where the drain tap goes , now i know that the drain can be in various places and a blanked cast where it normally goes , but it is the core plug that is new to me fitted and the drain elsewhere . Is it normal ? or has it been stripped out and a core plug banged in to plug it up . i would like to put a drain tap with the normal reducer or leave the core plug if its a know fitment . my guess is its the worst case scenario and stripped

Some Lister D's have the water drain tap on the carburettor side of the engine as original, usually lower left hand close to the flywheel. In this case the normal drain tap position is usually filled with a cast iron threaded bung.
