Coborn C3 refurb.

Firstly many thanks for all the suggestions date.
The Coborn has a Wico magneto. Is it feasible/sensible to remove the magneto from the engine? If it is possible, what is the best way of doing this? it would make it so much easier when repainting the engine to be able to remove it.
On the side of the engine is A 3136, followed by a large letter H. Does this indicate anything in particular about the engine?

The magneto is bolted to the bracket from underneath so it's easy to remove, you may have to re-time the ignition when it's re-installed. Remember, don't paint the part of the bracket where the mag sits, it needs a good earth to the engine.

The lettering is usually (but not always) foundry casting numbers.

Engine number is either on the large instruction plate attached to the cowling, or on a small brass strip at the base of the engine.
