International Vacuum pump Empty International Vacuum pump

I came across this vacuum pump while idly perusing Ebay earlier this year and thought it would go nicely with my International Model M as they were sold as a complete set for dairy use.  Anyway I made an acceptable offer and had a day out in sunny Hull collecting it.  It looked better that it actually was (how unusual is that haha!) and was siezed on the bore but freed off with assistance from a block of wood and a hammer.  Because it had been powered by an electric motor I had to rotate it through 90 degrees to align it with the engine, you have to rotate the cylinder and head as an assembly inside the casing to do that but it needed stripping anyway and some of the valves had corroded away and had to be remade from spring steel.  It just needs a trolley now and a tidy up paintwise, plus a new decal on the tank which I will ask Dave 'Titch' Sanders to make. Ideally it should be mounted fixed on the engine trolley but I will keep it seperate for now.

Nice one, my uncle, had one attached to a IHC LA, they had a bolt on extension to the LA's rails.

Good ol' google.

Good luck with the restro, be good to see a video running of your M.

Yes Steve it would be much easier to pair it with my own LA as the extension rails would be easy enough to make, but alas it is the physically much larger 3-5 horsepower version so a little bit OTT for powering that pump!

Oh right, didn't noticed the size difference, you need a LB! Should be ok powered from the LA would it not? Are you likely to run it at what would have been it's working load?

It's not the speed that's the issue Steve as the pulley runs at half engine speed anyway, it is just the fact that the engine is almost twice as large phsically and would dwarf the pump! This is mine, they are a fair old lump of an engine!

Didn't think speed would be the issue, more thinking of power under load. I've just read back and I've read your post wrong, yours is a smaller pump?
Mine was only a 1 1/2- 2 1/2hp version.

The pumps are all the same size Steve, the only difference is the pulley diameter as the electric motors ran at a different speed to the engines. I wish that my engine was the smaller one as well but the sellers description didn't mention the HP! Mine came from off of a McCormick baler. It will be going with the M Type as that is already (mostly!) black and dairy engines were always black from the factory.

Fair enough! Bigger one seem a bit more unusual on this side of the pond.
