Hi All
I finally got hold of mar-vil points block so it will run as it should hit and miss
But how to wire it up it's different to the one that's in it an alloy one.
So a little unsure how to wire it.

Cheers Stuartturnersteve
Thank you for the picture. I managed to get it to spark but not consistently
Not enough to run.  The points do look a little worn though. And I think the spring is not
strong enough or the ones I have.

Was it running with the other points block?

I'm not sure what the change in point block was to accomplish as the hit and miss is achieved by a wedge in the flywheel hub that is flung out under centrifugal force holding the points open.

Hi Stuartturnersteve
Yes I have the flywheel part. Now I see how it works now.
I changed to the brass points block because I thought that held the
hit and miss parts and get it origanl again.
Armed with this new info I going to have a look tomorrow.
Thank You Stuartturnersteve for the info.
Many Thanks
Andrew

This was mine before and after freeing the cam. I don't think you'll ever get one to run like a Maytag.

Hi All
Had some shed time today and came up with this.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7yiOELkgQls
Hope the link works Smile
How do i slow it down a little. its running on the brass point block and the spring was the issue to weak.
What should the timing be on the mar-vil i set it at points opening just before top dead centre.
Nearly there with old girl Very Happy
Cheers for the vids Stuartturnersteve
Many Thanks
Andrew
PS Why the exhaust change. Do you still have the old one.

No really any way to slow these down. A light spring in the wedge helps a little but there is no throttle control.
IIRC the Mar-Vil the timing is like the WX11, set it to TDC and align the marks on the flywheel and the ignition is set, theoretically the points should open a few degrees before TDC.

The original exhaust blew out after being patched with a coke can and chemical metal, it went to the State to help someone with a Mar-Vil out there.

Cheers Stuartturnersteve.
I will have a look tomorrow at the timing and adjust it needed.
Then have a little play to getting running the best I can hopefully that should do it.
Many Thanks
Andrew
