Re: Lister D Restoration
Looks like it is a tank cooled engine, not radiator cooled as no pulley behind flywheel, what does the carburetor look like is it cast iron or aluminium.

Different hopper cover as well on the radiator cooled ones, normally.
Has bolt holes for the fan assembly and also the top outlet pipe is cast and at an angel on the front edge. Bottom hose goes in where the bung is above the flywheel as well.

Re: Lister D Restoration
Must admit rotary wire brushes work well but I find they soon go past their best, I've used cup type on an angle grinder.

Re: Lister D Restoration
There are currently two that I can see on Ebay, both are reproductions but will have in them all you need.
Better still if you enter this no 203173990047 on Ebay it will take you to a Lister D manual for £4.95 in the Internal Fire museum ebay shop, all funds going to the museum.

When in doubt - polish it!
I'm going to try to reduce my Brasso spend this year.

Re: Lister D Restoration
This comes under the heading of " its your engine do as you please", I'm of the opinion that it didnt leave the factory like that but each to his own.

Re: Lister D Restoration
I'd leave guard off until you know its running ok, save you having to remove it if it isnt ok.
