Keith from Cornwall
Hi, my name is Keith. Thank you for allowing me to join. I am in the process of clearing a deceased relative’s garage and am looking for advice on stationary engines and pumps. Much of what is there I can identify (even I know a Lister D). There is one engine that appears to have no identifiers and also a Wolseley WLB 1. It was passed down that this was a rare engine, but is this the case? I will post pictures when allowed to do so. Any help or advice would be gratefully appreciated. I am based in Cornwall.

Re: Keith from Cornwall
Hi Keith and a warm welcome to the forum.
I trust you will keep a couple for some tinker time. Looking forward to seeing your pics. Sadly Cornwall is a bit of a hike for me to pick up an engine but maybe soon we'll be able to holiday.

Hi, sounds like the sort of garage we would all like!
Don't pass them all on, you will have a 'if only' moment otherwise.

Info wanted
Just posting a picture. The engine appears complete and turns freely. I can find very little about the Wolseley WLB 1, is it rare?

Re: Keith from Cornwall
Yes, Keith, the WLB1 is a rare Wolseley engine as only about 700 were built and many of these were exported.
It would be a good one to keep if you are interested in engines, but if you decide to sell it would probably make the highest price at an auction (either real or eBay).

Re: Keith from Cornwall
One of our 'more mature' club members sold a WLB last month for £50 (he paid £25 for it a year ago so doubled his money ) as it was too heavy for him now and I helped to load it up! It had the fabricated hopper instead of the cast one and apparently the new owner has got it running nicely. There are not too many around, I only know of a couple locally.

Re: Keith from Cornwall
Thanks for the welcome and advice. I am gradually trawling through and will post more photos in the relevant sections as I try to identify what’s there. I’ve also discovered folders containing the Stationary Engine Magazine starting from 1976, do you think that there will be any interest in these?

The scrotes round here do. They also understand the value of it, along with coppery and brassy and anything else that is not well secured.blue cat wrote:Alanengine wrote:Stationary Engine magazines - oh yes! Have a look on the bay, they fetch good money.
