Firstly let me say that I have NO affiliation with the company mentioned below.

I recommend Purdy Paint Brushes. I have used them for a long time. They are an American company and are all hand made. They do not shed bristles like most of the cheap brushes on the market seem to. If you look after them they will give you years of service and along with a good quality paint give excellent results.

Here is my 1" Purdy, I've painted many engines and accessories with it and after many years is still in great condition.

I'll second that! I have used these for years - mostly 'for best' and will agree they are superb and capable of a glass like finish, always religiously wash mine out every time, shake, wrap in tissue to maintain its shape while drying then put it back in its pack.

90% preparation 10% paint application - but a good brush don't arf help!
