I've got an F15 on an Allam Minigen but not really studied it, sounds like maybe a governor setting issue?

Also check that throttle hasn't come loose or stuck open. What carburettor is it?mattblack wrote:I've got an F15 on an Allam Minigen but not really studied it, sounds like maybe a governor setting issue?

Re: Villiers f15 over revving problem
Thinking about it, don't alternators have to run at a certain speed to produce certain voltage? (If that make sense). Maybe it needs to rev high and that's what it's governed at?
I've got a cheap (£20 IIRC) digital contact tacho from ebay, might be a thought to see what the revs actually are.

Re: Villiers f15 over revving problem
I had a look at my F15 manuals today, governor set-up is normal Villiers practice, i.e. less tension on the spring = lower speed, more tension = higher speed.
I take it the position of the governor arm on the spindle has not been disturbed?

Re: Villiers f15 over revving problem
The nylon governor gear inside the crankcase on those later Villiers engines break up, I have had several that were in pieces, so if nothing else works I would check that.
