Villiers Midget mk2 Empty Villiers Midget mk2

Post by bluedog Tue Oct 29 2013, 11:22

I have started to disassemble a Villiers Midget Mk2 engine and am having difficulty with removing the flywheel. I can unscrew the nut a few turns but then it binds up and won't budge further. When loosened I can't turn the flywheel without the drive shaft turning. It is like the flywheel is seized on the drive shaft.
Any ideas much appreciated.

Also, what is the best way to remove rust stains from carburettors to end up with a nice finish?

Greg

Greg the flywheel is 'self extracting' on Villiers. The nut has gone loose and then tightened again, now you need to put a spanner on it and clout it with a hammer, the nut will then go loose again and if you keep turning it will draw the flywheel off, simple!Wink

Pete.
