Nice looking engine there,

The flywheel are easier to remove from these engines compaired to the a1.
Ive never been able to remove an a1 flywheel without damaging the thing, but the a type engine seem to come of no probs with a bit of patiance.

I have one of these engines there nice engines.

What is the depth of you sump?

As the a type engine had 2 diffrent size sumps.

1938 petter a. Empty noisy gears.

Post by earlsinclare Thu Oct 14 2010, 07:22

i found the noise, it was the fixed shaft that the starting gog/gear sits on this has now been repaired ( i knew the lathe would get to do a serious job eventualy). all i need now is a better set of timing gears the set on the engine are very worn and chattery. i've put an add in SE so we will have to wait and see.
