Wolseley WD2 float clips
Slowly but surely the restoration of my new project Wolsely WD2 is coming along nicely, however I have a problem with the wires, springs, clips or whatever they are called on top of the float itself. They have rusted away and broken and no longer hold the valve needle in place. Is there a special wire available or recommended that needs to be used, or could I get away with soldering something simple like a couple of large dress making pins in place? The needle thingy itself is fine and still has a nice groove in it. I can't be the only one to have had this problem.

Recon the o ring is the best option of those two, trying to solder a chromed safety pin must have been fun :DYou could use a bit of MIG wire if you wanted.

Re: Wolseley WD2 float clips
Thanks for the info. I may well have a few small O rings in the garage from a set of bike carbs. I reckon I'll go down the solder route and have a rummage around in wifeys sowing box and see what I can find. I know she has some big old (non chrome) pins lurking somewhere, a quick rub over with some fine wet and dry and they'll solder on just fine.

Re: Wolseley WD2 float clips
I gave up on the sewing box raid as all the pins I found were a bit fine. I discovered some old GPO binding wire in the shed, when the plastic coating was removed the single core was a nice fit in the groove so I used that instead.
