Having recently acquired a Climax No.1 pump I'm trying to find out a bit more about them. Googling the name produces lots of hits for Coventry Climax, but I can't find anything like No.1 when digging into Coventry Climax products so assume it was made by someone else who used the "Climax" as a brand name?.

First a nice photo of the pump...

Before asking a question, the seal under the air vessel has seen better days, seems to be some kind of rubber, could I make one from a piece of car inner tube or does it need something else?

I've ordered a piece of 1.5mm rubber sheet from the bay, if that doesn't work I'll try cork next, thanks.

Silicone it when you put it together, I know it's a bodge but it works.
