villiers C12 valve adjustment
Can someone please advise me how to measure the valve clearances. I can't see any access to the cam followers and don't see how I can physically measure anything. Thanks

Re: villiers C12 valve adjustment
There is a plate under the carb/exhaust held on by a single central bolt, that's the valve chest cover. The Villiers manual gives the clearances as 006" to 010" for both inlet and exhaust, this is for the MK12 but I am pretty sure the C12 is the same (I will check later when I go out to the garage). This is for setting the clearances after a decoke/overhaul with no valve springs fitted. The clearance is adjusted by filing the end of the valve stem. If you PM me your email address I will send you a PDF of the MK12 manual.

Hi. Thanks for your reply. I have removed the cover and taken the springs off but the valve stems go through the bottom of opening out of sight so I don't see how I can measure the gap. Photo attached. Thanks for the offer of the manual. I'll send my mail address

Re: villiers C12 valve adjustment
I'm a bit confused... the cam followers should be visible poking through the bottom of the valve chest with the end of valve stem above?
The clearance is the same for the C12, BTW.

Thanks for all your help. The cam followers are there. I don't know how I missed that. Must be going mad. I blame it on the cider.
