Re: Lister DR find
This morning I went back to get the base rail that I left behind, and I also found the original starting handle. I will go back again in a few months time and see if the cows have churned up the ground and un-covered anymore bits!
Here's what's left of the engine/pump house, it fell down many many years ago! You might just see the sea through the trees!
This from the top of the field, you can see the woods where the engine was!

Doesn't look like enough threads especially as the is a deep countersink, get a piece of silver grind a centre punch point then heat to red heat and dump in water then heat to blue colour and dump in water, use it to pick away at tap then drive some small bits of steel down the flutes and unscrew with mole grips or similar.

I think that picture was taken part way through breaking it out, very slow process! The hole takes all the thread on the bottom of the stud, stud can't go any deeper.
Why is it that things never go the way you want them to? I have another lister D that I've been robbing bits off, the studs came out a piece of cake, 2 of them came out by hand!

Re: Lister DR find
If restoring an old engine was simple, it would be no fun and one would learn nothing in the process. Stationary Engine is fast-approaching its Golden Jubilee, issue 600; an article on the trials and tribulations of restoring a humble Lister D would be most welcome I'm certain.

Still lots to do! The water pump is the next thing to mount on the trolley. I managed to get a new air vessel made, it wasn’t cheep but is going to look good once it’s had a bit of machining and a couple coats of paint.
I’m so grateful to the late Andy Waters who in his wisdom did a very detailed strip down and rebuild of a climax water pump, so many parts on my pump need extensive work and having Andy’s pump as a reference is so helpful.

Hear, Hear, Andy did quite a lot of well detailed restorations, great reference material.

Re: Lister DR find
Lister D and the Climax pump have come a long way, almost finished and will be ready to show, but fortunately I wont be showing it! I have decided to sell the outfit once finished. I need the space and money for my next project, I have managed to acquire a nice little grey Fergie!
Any ideas on value?
