Petter A1 engine stop.

Hi all. My Petter A1 runs very well but the only way I can stop the engine is to turn off the fuel and wait until it stops. Is there a way to wire up a kill switch to the spark plug or anything else?????

What magneto is on it? There is usually a button to earth out the magneto.

Not sure but I can't see anything. I'll try to have another look tomorrow and see if I can make out what mag it is.

Mag is either a Lucas SR1, Wico A Or Wipac CJ normally, the SR1 has a bakerlite or pressed steel end, the Wico a bakerlite cap on top and the CJ is all ali, unless it is a ministry spec then it could have a different top.

Just seen a photo of your engine, it is the Wipac CJ. If I remember right there is a brass button on the end cap you can press...

The stop button on my Wipac mag had perished and you stopped it by shorting a bit of wire to the body




I made a small panel with a pushbutton on




and mounted it discretely under the mag

Adjust the throttle so when you push the arm right in it stops.

You could also do it Villiers style - small brass strip to short out HT terminal on spark plug.

Yes. Ive got something like that on my old briggs and stratton rotavator.
