My Lister D flywheel is well and truly stuck on and needs to be removed for a clean up. Does anyone know, please, where a key drift can be acquired?

Key drift for Lister D fly wheel removal Empty Gib key out! Fly wheel stuck fast.

Post by ajcooper4 Sat Feb 20 2021, 11:35

Very happy to report that the Gib key is out on my Lister D. Unbelievably a neighbour cam to the door a couple of days ago and said 'is this any use to you?' A key drift. What are the chances of that?

Next question....what about the fly wheel which is pretty well stuck? Any words of wisdom please? Thanks.

start by spraying the shaft with penetrating fluid around shaft and into the key way, follow this by getting to pieces of 2" square timber about 3' long and clamp these around the shaft to act as a stop then gently rock the flywheel from side to side until it releases and then rock it off the shaft, deburr the key way so that the flywheel doesnt get stuck.

DO NOT USE PLUMBERS GRIPS, STILSONS or any such tool as they will bugger the crankshaft.
