Tom Senior Engine
Hello All,
New here so this is my first post.
I have a petrol Tom Senior marked as 1/16th HP which by the bore and stroke appears to be correct.
It has rocker operated Inlet Valve as well as the Exhaust. I understand that some of these engines, possibly earlier versions, had a suction operated Inlet.
It has been nicely mounted on a tile effect base complete with 2 cooling tanks, a petrol tank, a dynamo and a control board for the electrics.
The ignition coil and condenser with the associated wiring is hidden in the hollow base.
It runs rather fast and I am having difficulty in slowing it down whilst not letting it stall.
The electrical set up, dynamo and control board, has an output of about 4 volts showing on a meter although I have not yet tried to light a lamp.
The history is unknown but it was suggested that this may have been an "apprentice piece".
There are no markings or serial number.
Does anybody out there have any information or any idea as to what age this little engine would be, please?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Chris.

Chris,
There are several pictures and youtube video's and they all seem to be missing one thing, a governor to control the speed, I assume yours doesn't have one either so your onlychoice is to control the fuel which wont really work as all your doing is weakening the fuel mixture and it could end up to weak damaging the engine.

Re: Tom Senior Engine
The Tom Senior Simplex is a rather simple thing, mine (1/10th HP) was a bit of a swine to balance on the air/fuel mixture to get it running ok.
Best I could get mine running. Decided it wasn't for me and moved onto hot air.
