Now that's a more sensible sized LA Phillip, more manageable than that blooming great lump of an LA that I had for a while! I might get a smaller one sometime in the future given time to recover from the stress! Smile Nice to see that it still has the lid as well, is that an original cart or a replica of one?

Pete.

Came complete with the starting handle. You soon learn how to use it though, one quick flick over TDC only, or it will remind you to not keep turning it affraid

Pete.

Its the small 1.2/2.5 hp version and early too, 1935. The lid doesn't fit well and rattles noisily when the engine is running.
The cart is a replica Pete, which my friend imported from the US specially for this engine.

Especially when the return spring breaks! Shocked   I replaced mine, a fiddly job, and at the Lincoln rally one chap ('Little Reg' from near Malpas) had his break as well and it damaged the back of his hand when he attempted to start it, I ordered him one from the States and fitted it for him at the Heaton House event.  Some of the early ones were fixed speed, then I believe they fitted a rotary control low down behind the flywheel.  Mine was like yours but had a round knob on the lever, it was one of the final batch from the 1940's.

Pete.

I'm not doing too badly thanks John, not brilliant on my legs (I doubt that I could get mounted in a Foden now alas Smile ) but can still just about manage to fire up an engine! I'm sure that our paths will cross somewhere this year.

Pete.
