JAP Engine Empty JAP Engine

Post by alan8859 Mon May 01 2023, 14:36

Just picked up this JAP engine as a project to do with the grandkids. I have no knowledge of JAP engines so does anyone know what model and year this is. I suspect it's not got the original carb so does anyone know what carb is on it and what carb should be on it. Many thanks.

Looks like a JAP model 80 dating to 1948, but hopefully others will confirm this. The carburettor on your engine could be a BEC maybe fitted for a special purpose with the hand throttle. The usual carburettor would be a cable operated Amal type 379.
