Should be fun if you have the missing parts.

It's a Norman T300 Mk2, built between 1945 and 1967.
If you would like an accurate date please advise the serial number of your engine.

Norman T300 Mk2 supplied to Thomas Green & Sons Ltd of Leeds on 19th November 1951. It should have a Wico Series A impulse magneto fitted. Thomas Green built these engines into their Greens "Master" range of lawnmowers in the 24-36 inch cutter size. They were industrial machines used for tennis courts, cricket fields, football pitches and council parks. These mowers are really quite rare now, but many engines used in them still exist. The Greens engine is a good version to have as usually fitted with a useful twin vee pulley.

Thanks for the information blue cat, I did suspect it was from a mower the amount of grass I found when stripping it down, it is Wico magneto trying to make a good one out of two as the one on it was a mess broken cap and bolts I will post some pictures tomorrow

Magneto rebuilt even sparks hope to put it back on the engine tomorrow and see if anything happens, afraid it won’t let me post the video of it working but I will keep trying

Hi Steve,
Servimg only hosts images.
You would need to try Ubend, Daily Motion or some such. I've used Streamable in the past. You can post for free but the videos disappear after ninety days I you don't open an account.
No big deal for me - I can barely remember what I did ninety minutes ago!

Back together and now one side is apart again discovered a broken valve spring, probably explains low compression on one side, other side seems great though it may also need a valve spring looking at It, Sorry not a great picture Norman T300 Img_1724

It’s coming on it’s good fun I was hoping to test fire it in a couple of days but I think it being apart on one side again might stop that, I think I have hopefully found a spring I can modify to work

Valve spring sorted good compression now other side a bit worse than I thought looks like a bent valve, time to get the big hammer out Norman T300 Img_1727

Parts list is growing, could do with valve guide and exhaust valve and top piston ring, I shouldn’t have looked and just hoped all was OK but me being me I had to take it apart and check

That probably explains why there was so much old oil on the case

I can supply a new old-stock valve guide for £8 including postage.

Piston rings you should be able to get from Cox and Turner

I will get a picture tomorrow I am sure some epoxy will seal it, I think the broken valve guide may be a bigger problem, by any chance does anyone know of on I can make fit?

And it was my own fault, a bit heavy handed trying to put valve spring back on

I would certainly be interested in a couple valve guides, one as a spare in case I get over enthusiastic again
