I'll bet thats an old mould casting fault, not a crack.

I did think that as well but not sure as the carburettor is also smashed so I suspect it had a bit of a drop at some time

That looks more like a casting flaw to me rather than a cracked aluminium casting. Oil is more likely to come out of joints, especially if someone has damaged the metal to metal surfaces, or out of the shaft seals if the sump is overfilled or the internal oil return holes are blocked.

Message me when you are ready for the valvel guides, I can supply the two as requested.

The carburettors are made of mazak, a very weak metal, which can fall apart even if you just look at it the wrong way Suspect

Sorry for the dodgy pictures it went dark on me, anyway busy day today, built a base for it, filled it with oil and tested for oil pressure which was fine messed with the magneto again for some reason spark disappears at higher RPM, finally give it some easy start and it made promising noises, I don’t think I will get it to run until carburettor is sorted

I'm pretty sure this has been posted before but it's that time of year!  Wink

I went to the zoo the other day, there was only one animal in it, it was a shih tzu.

I managed to get a bit done on the Norman started making a starting handle for it, it did also try to run a bit and a nice backfire so I wonder if the timing is ok

The Wico magneto should trip when the TDC mark on the flywheel is at the top.

Rosie is getting groomed tomorrow so I ordered the cheapest carb I could find on Amazon as I am off work tomorrow let’s see if I can make it fit and maybe work, sure it will take a bit of modifying but it did try and run on easy start today

TA5622 was originally sold to Arthur Lyon & Co Ltd of London on 27th August 1952. It was an export order.
Engine was originally fitted with a Wico Series A impulse magneto.

Hello and welcome, my spare magneto has been used to fix the one on my Norman and it doesn’t quite fit for some reason it is about 5mm different in height

Hi Kai,

Best to start a new thread in Pride and Joy or New Projects/Restorations rather than tack onto an old thread.
