First Engine

I inherited a 1922 Ottawa from my grandfather who passed away last November. I had seen this engine run before in my life time. I must have been only like 11 years old. So I believe this engine had not run in 15 years or so. I am not new to engines I know how they work. I am just a bit unfamiliar with these old ones. I am having trouble keeping the engine running. The gas tank on it seemed like it needed TLC. So as a temporary fix I hooked some tubing up and put it in a gas can. Seems like it may be getting too much fuel. Initially it would suck in fuel and then dump a bunch out the mixer thing. Seemed too like the gas can had to be at an exact height relative to the engine otherwise it did not draw enough vacuum to suck more fuel in. I managed to get it to run for about a minute. I am not really sure how to adjust air/fuel. There is a needle valve on one side, on the other is this other tiny little screw but not sure what it does. Please watch video and tell me if the engine sounds like it is running right. It dies at the end of the video. I don't know if it is lean or rich or what not. Please excuse any ignorance. I also cannot find very much literature regarding this engine. Any info is much appreciated. Ok so I cannot post links for 7 days cause I am new. Seems dumb. My video is on You Tube. Surprised none of the other open crank owner here have imparted a bit of wisdom.
If the petrol is flowing back out the carb on the compression stroke then the valves are seating correctly.
Also there should be a check valve in the fuel line between the tank and the carb, if it is not there the fuel will be blown back on compression stroke.
from the video it sound like its running lean, I know if I open the choke to much or decrease the fuel it will start to "double suck" or in your case 3 or 4 suck before it fires, so might be a case of more fuel needed.
I can really see the carb in your video bit the wheel on the carb will just be a simple needle valve, wind out to increase fuel intake, in to decrease, not sure if the is a Choke on it (will just be a simple bit of metal that goes in front on the intake) running with choke will help the "double suck"

Ok, that gives me something to go on. I will try to get better pics of the mixer. I don't recall a little flap/door to adjust the air. Maybe I just overlooked it. I will have to look at it again. Seems like there almost has to be something to adjust the air volume. Thanks for the comments though.
