Had the genny running and it will now start on 1 swing of the handle..
seen in the vid running a 1kw light heater.I am getting a second silencer which fits on the original silencer to make it much quieter at rallys.

Jay I think your idea of a second silencer is spot on, it is a bit loud even on the video it's nice when it stops.

Did you have to sell much stuff when you moved?

Glad to hear you didn't have to sell up. Problem is 5 months soon comes round, can you not rent a lock up near you, the only problem being is there not cheap. If I didn't have to pay rent on my lock up I could have the money for a good engine Laughing

I sold a few engines which i have had laying about which i didnt like which got sold along with a few spares my lister jp3 compressor set and jp4 genny i had have gone into long term storage along with my vickers petter twin.I am still selling off 1 or 2 but the rest are safe,I have been looking for a place near to the house but most of the places just arent suitable for lorry access or the owner just dont want engines going in... there.

hi jay..
i would agree with Stu on a second or different silencer..it was a bit loud on the video ...
as for storing the engines, that's the worst thing about it all, having somewhere to store them..it costs so much to rent places now a days....
good luck with finding a storage place for the big engines....

It's not the loudness of the engine it's the pitch, it's one of those things that go through you.

ts actually running a bit slower in the vid there is a lever which you can pull round to slow it down a bit for light loads the same lever can be pulled right over to just make the engine idle at about 1000rpm(going by my tacho dial thingy)

@stu on a rally field it shouldnt be to bad once everyone is running but i will agree as it is it does go thought u after a hour of running as well as the whiff/plume of 2 stroke oil

You can't beat the smell of 2 stroke smoke on the rally field it sort of gets people to remember having old motorbikes etc and then gets them talking. I was told the best 2 stroke oil to use was Castrol R, (I think it is) as it has a great smell to it.
