Post by Sam Botham on Mon Apr 11 2016, 19:23

Hi I have 2 villiers Mark 25 engines one of them is used for parts and the other one it almost running (one or 2 pops), when the fuel is turned on it leaks fuel out of the air filter. Thanks Sam.

Hi Sam
Have you checked for a hole in the float a bit of shite in the float valve and the vent hole in the fuel tank cap ? as if the tank vent is blocked with temperature change it can pressurise the tank so when you open the fuel tap it can force fuel through and overtake gravity !! this is some times over looked But you will to have good compression and a good spark and timed all to be there all at the same time !!! All the best with this project

Hi Sam,

As Tony says, a tiny bit of rust/grit can stop the needle valve in the carb from closing. Remove float bowl and give everything a good clean. Be careful not to drop the needle valve of lever. I did, and it took me an hour grovelling about on the floor it find it. I have manual. PM me if you need one.
