Honing tool

Hi, over the weekend I managed to free up the piston in my 'D', there are some marks on the cylinder, nothing major, so was wondering how much material a honing tool would remove. There would be a lot more expense involved having it rebored and new piston, trying to keep costs down!
If you have experienced a similar issue would you share that with me please?

A hone won't remove a lot of material (<0.001"), I mainly use one for "glaze busting" and putting the cross hatching back in. You may want to gap check the rings first.

Honing tool will take a little out but not much, if you haven't got one use fine wet & dry with paraffin as a lube and go up and down the bore in a figure 8 pattern and that will do as well as anything, is it marked or pitted?

Engine was seized, piston about 1/3 way down the cylinder, crankcase full of water. Bottom and top of cylinder does have a few marks.
I will try with a bit of wet n dry but ultimately a rebore is probably the only sure way of sorting it. Was quoted £48+vat for a rebore.

You could get another block, probably the way I'd go if it was that bad. A D will run with very little compression.
