Fairbanks Morse Z 1 1/2 hp parts needed

Hi, I am after many parts for a Fairbanks Morse Z 1 1/2hp,

flywheel,
bearings,
governor,
linkages,

I would be interested to hear if there is anything lying about.

Sounds like a serious problem, Chris.

All these parts are available in USA. New bearings are $45 each = $90 already.
There are al least 2 different types of governor depending what was fitted to your engine.
Again new governors are available about $200
Was the governor bracket the mazak one ? These suffer metal fatigue and are not easy to find.
New governor brackets (in aluminium) are about $190
Linkages all available in USA.
All plus shipping and customs duty.

The flywheel would probably be too expensive to import so must be sourced here.
Try eBay seller "rustyoldjunk2008" or "5-gordini-turbo" for the parts you need, they may have bought a breaker at the Ledbury sale.
Worth asking on facebook too......

I guess you have to weigh up the cost of restoring this engine against it's value.
Been two sold on eBay in the last couple of months, both complete and in decent condition and less than £425.
Three rougher ones sold at the Ledbury sale between £100 and £380.
Of course if its a family engine then cost is not relevant.

Hi, Thanks for the info, yes I have had this for years hoping to come across one, and I did but notified a email pal down south who had taken the bits off he needed and was going to send the rest to me, unfortunatly I never received the engine, then on ebay possibly 12 months ago, 3 engine worth of parts sold in one lot, crasy from a selling point of view I thought I even contacted the seller and pleaded to sell the parts I required seperatly, again this never happened, so I am left with an engine needing a heap of work, miles away for sourcing parts, and even if I do source parts its going to be pallet shipment, when done.

I am in no hurry but thought I would ask on here to see,
