Painting with a gloss roller

I have read a few posts ref painting and I have had good results from using a gloss roller
to paint block, cowling's and tanks.
What I do is paint the awkward area with a paint brush which in most cases are not seen anyway then go
over with a roller, tank is a bit fiddly to do but turns out ok in the end.

Looks good! I might use a roller and brush for the block of my Mk 20 back at home.

Did you paint the straps and tank separately before attaching them to the engine?

Yes all the parts were painted separate and attached when dry, then went over bolts and any small bits I had missed with a paint brush
I used Hammerite paint Dark green and to get it this colour I mixed a small tin of Hammerite yellow, which I now have enough to
paint 3 small engines.
The tank and straps I hung up with wire, the cowl I painted the underside with a brush and the put over a large kitchen roll from aldi
which held it firm enough to be able to use roller, the good thing using a roller with hammerite is if you have put to much paint on in a area you can go over it to spread paint more evenly to prevent sags, the next one I do I will post images.

Ment to add, if you use Hammerite smooth don't use brush as normal just dip end of brush in paint and then dab it on rather then brush strokes, one you can go over area's over and over until it has covered, which means it should cover in one coat, two it seems to flow better this way and no brush marks.

An update on painting with a roller
I have attached images of painting with a roller in progress, the cowling I painted underside last night so well dry for this afternoon.
I dabbed paint around places that roller wont reach and then applied one cover coat which is all that is needed, the roller at first will leave air bubbles don't worry about them until you have covered the whole area then go back over whole thing very gently with roller to remove air bubbles,check for any missed or dry areas job done.
