bsa is now under the running and ready for the painting to begin

my bsa 120cc was fired up on video on furum last week , and ive got the villiers 1944 tin work to near finished
so the bsa is moving back to shed 1 for the clean up and repaint as ive desided that 2 yrs more on this tinwork and the holes will start
so off with the old and on with the new
watch this space as will be nacked in 48hrs ,if all goes well

theres not that many of the BSAs around still like other aircooled engines
so will be preserving rather than letting it perrish
some will be going up for sale before to long,
as some i have more than one or two of the same specs and model
as i will be making room for more projects of course

well the bsa had a last fire up before photos and work started and added new fuel and turned tap on choked and pulled once
and away she went no smoke at all so the deglaze and valves grind has defo done its job as it smoked its bits off and kept oiling the plug up before
so well happy again with my engine diy work
anyway this is what ive done out side tonight follows

this is what colour the block is originaly almost wolseley battleship grey but its admiralty grey
and the tin work is the colour i painted the villiers plaque with as a tester manchester red

then i got the tin work tank flywheel and flywheel mag electrics backplate off
ect ect
this shows my dodgy soldering skills and cable making as i recoiled and made all new wiring and soldered the ht lead to coil
when i bought it before this final tarting up as if its a runner its worth a coat of paint if needed i wont a cant afford to waste money on fillers primmers and topcoats for a scrapper/ breaker for ebay ect









this photo shows the oil seal is ducked due to hay being pulled down the back of flat belt pulley and forced through the oil seal the seal internal retention
spring is snapped so new seal will be bought before reasembly "WHEN IN ROME AND ALL THINGS LIKE THAT,WHY STRIP TWICE WHEN THE FIRST TIME YOU COULD OF DONE IT WRITE

the good old company of bearingboys they do loads of stuff
if i need somthing for the hobby i try there search box with key words to item and 8 out of ten they have it
somtimes to expensive ie tools but seals gears trolley wheels and also bearings
found them about 4 yrs ago and keep going back for more quick delivery too usually within 2 days
p.s stu did you find the a1vo book do you have anything for the bsa stats ???

she dont mind me using it and a night they are hanging up in the shed and the bathroom and somtimes on smaller parts i hang in kitchen to dry,harden off

cure rusted last evening, sanded ,flatend of this lunchtime and just finished the 4th coat of primmer on the block,pulley and other bits







going back out now for sanding the tinwork over again

just stripped and cleaned evry last piece in the carb
i gave it a quick clean before fire up but run it with 2 stroke and loads of redex
and the amount of chalky desolved corrosion crap stuck onto everthing and 1/4 the way up the fuel bowl
so it should run smoother again fingers crossed ,tap and tank to be clean later tonight
and tomorow will be a quite engine day as im doing a driving run for brass for my next projects

I find that the worst part of painting is where to put the parts to dry looks like you've got that sorted Kev, think I need a washing line.
